About Me

Land acknowledgement

I acknowledge that I am on the traditional lands of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc within Secwépemc’ulucw, the traditional and unceded territory of the Secwépemc. I recognize their enduring connection to this land, and I express respect for their culture, traditions, and stewardship of the land that has supported generations of their community.

My name is Mengyuan Wang. You can call me Emily, I am from Tianjin, China, and I am a new teacher who just graduated from Thompson Rivers University’s Bachelor of Education program. I love teaching and hope to help students not only grow academically, but also improve their confidence and life skills. In my practicum, I taught science 10, Pre-cal 11, and PE 8/9 at the St. Regis Secondary school. I like to design fun and engaging classes, such as using activities, games, and technology tools to help students focus and actively learn.

Before becoming a teacher, I worked with teenagers in multiple settings, such as being a math tutor at Kamloops Sylvan Learning Center and volunteering at Language Learning Center(Thompson River University) and Big Little Science Center. These experiences taught me how to connect with students and understand their different needs. I focus on building good relationships with students and strive to create a safe, respectful, and motivated learning environment.

I would describe myself as a positive, caring, and organized person. I believe that every student can succeed with the right support. I look forward to bringing my passion and sense of responsibility to the school community and continue to grow in my teaching journey to make a positive impact on students’ lives.
