Professional Development

BC Professional Standard #7

As a new teacher, I understand that continuous learning and growth are very important in education. This will not only help me become a better teacher, but also better support my students. I feel that I still have a lot to learn about classroom management. I want to understand how to better keep students focused and how to deal with different student behaviors in a positive way. I also hope to improve my ability to use technology tools in the classroom.

In the next year, I hope to learn more about “inclusive education” and learn how to support students with different learning needs and cultural backgrounds. At the same time, I also want to continue to grow in science and mathematics teaching, especially how to make the class more interesting and interactive. I am interested in participating in workshops, online courses, and learning from experienced teachers. I also hope to join some professional learning communities to share teaching ideas and get feedback.

I have not participated in professional development outside of the Bachelor of Education program, but I will participate in some in the future to help me grow.

BC Professional Standard #8

Standard 8 reminds me that even as a new math teacher, I can contribute to the teaching profession.

I can share lesson ideas, practice questions, and math activities I create with my colleagues. I am also happy to learn from more experienced teachers and ask for their feedback. I will join staff meetings, department collaborations, and math-focused workshops to build connections and share what I learn. In the future, I hope to help develop math curriculum and support other teachers, making math more enjoyable and accessible for all students.
